about
This song needed words & melody when it was sent to me via Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) in 2008. I set it aside for another time, but it was always rolling around my head. It took the passing of my mom in 2014 for me to return to it. I had the need to express all that fucking pain, loss & rage. The lyrics & melody poured from my soul as if I had known them all along, Written on an early Sunday morning, these vocals were completed in 2 takes. The first take was the most difficult delivery I’ve ever sang. We decided to use that one, due to the level of my emotion. You'll hear the pain in that one. So we kept it, glitches and all. If you've ever suffered loss… this song is for you. ... Love, Brad
lyrics
Endless nights, turn into days
n' I am here still waiting...
and what would I give
for just five more minutes
of your love
I came here to borrow... I believe I'm gonna stay
In her fields of summer
I believe that I will play,
No time to lose, I heard them say
& I could not stop from fallin'
and I could not breathe, or hear the angels sing
when the time ~ well it was callin
Now what would you give
for five more minutes ~ of her love.
I came here to borrow... I believe I'm gonna stay
In her fields of summer
Come along some summer day...
I believe I'm fallin'
in your fields of summer
lay me down...
in her fields of summer
some ~ summer day.
With the wasted love ~ & the wasted time
and I am here still waiting...
and what would I give...
for just five more minutes
of her love
I came here to borrow... I believe I'm gonna stay
In her fields of summer
some summer day
Came here to borrow
In the fields of summer, some summer day
fields of summer...ooooh ya
in the fields of summer
now I lay me down
fields of summer ~ some summer day
Lay me down.
